Nebraska and USC square off on Saturday in one of the most meaningful November games Memorial Stadium has seen in years. Both teams come into the week at 6-2, and both can keep playoff hopes alive with a win. The Trojans enter the game with the advantage of rest and extended game planning after last week’s bye. The Huskers come in buoyed by the big news of Matt Rhule’s contract extension, temperatures that should dip into the low 30’s, and the energy of the first ever stadium blackout to honor the Blackshirts.
The vibes for this one should be off the charts, so let’s see how the two teams stack up…
Nebraska Offense vs USC Defense
The offensive side of the ball is where Nebraska should have its biggest advantage in this matchup. USC has been a much improved defense in its two seasons with coordinator D’Anton Lynn, but still lacks the edge needed to be a winning unit. It ranks in the bottom half of the country in pass defense, and was bullied for 306 rushing yards in its most recent game, a loss to rival Notre Dame.
