Nebraska looks to get back to winning football Saturday morning in West Lafayette as they take on 1-2 Purdue. Amid a two-game losing streak, the Boilermakers come in to the game with one of the nation’s worst run defenses. In fact, only one team in all of college football gives up more rushing yards per game than Purdue. That said, the Boilermaker’s last two opponents, Notre Dame and Oregon State, feature a heavy dose of quarterback runs, something this year’s Nebraska offense rarely incorporates into its game plan. It will be intriguing to see if the Huskers will get their running game back on track after rushing for just 48 yards against Illinois or if they will continue to emphasize the arm of its best player, quarterback Dylan Raiola. Equally worth keeping your eyes on is if Nebraska’s defense can bounce back after an uncharacteristically below average performance against Illinois. On paper, this looks like a get-right game for the Big Red, but as we’ve seen before, strange things tend to happen on the grass of Ross-Ade Stadium. We’ll find out before lunch on this last Saturday of September. Let’s dive into the stats…
