Nebraska vs Wisconsin: The big game
Hi WA Huskers,
Well, it certainly wasn’t a cakewalk in the cozy high-altitude confines of Wyoming’s War Memorial Stadium last week, but the Huskers eventually pulled away to a 38-14 victory over a resurgent Cowboys team that seems to have the chops to make some noise in the Mountain West.
Now it’s on to the big matchup that has been circled on our calendars for months – the #8 Huskers visit the #7 Wisconsin Badgers for a rowdy night game that pits two undefeated teams in their Big 10 openers, with huge championship implications. The game is this Saturday Oct. 1, at 5pm Pacific on ABC. More info here.
This we know: ESPN’s “Game Day” crew will be on the scene, the Huskers will come in as the underdog (currently 9 points), the Wisconsin O-line will be massive and their fans will Jump Around, and many Big Red fans will be sporting “blackout” colors for the day to distinguish themselves from the Badgers’ own version of the “Sea of Red.” (And what about the Huskers’ uniforms? The rumors continue to fly, not that it really matters, although NU’s equipment crew tweeted today that “Just to calm everyone's nerves we will be wearing our normal road uniforms & helmet @ Wisconsin.”) Regardless, it should be a great scene and a raucous beginning to Nebraska’s Big 10 adventure, and hopefully a signature Husker win.
As always, we invite you to watch the game with your Big Red friends at our fantastic watch sites, where there’s a LOT going on this week, from live radio shows to stellar raffle prizes.
The Lucky 7 in Kirkland
This is our long-standing “Husker Headquarters” flagship watch site, located northeast of Seattle.
As with every week at the Lucky 7, we’ll have a great time and a terrific halftime raffle – this week’s marquee prize is a full size helmet autographed by Ndamukong Suh!
Please get there early to get a good seat, and try to keep the family dining area available for families with children -- minors are not permitted to sit in any other areas of the Lucky 7 so the available seating for families is only around 60-70 folks.
O’Blarneys Pub in Olympia
The place to be for ravenous Husker fans in the South Sound! Come early and be sure to get a good seat, and support the halftime raffle – this week’s big price is a Husker football autographed by the 1997 Championship team!
