Although the football season is behind us, there is NO offseason for Husker fans! Basketball is in full swing, softball and baseball are kicking off, and even though football “games” are over, the Spring Game is only weeks away! As it’s become tradition, we are again going to have our Washington Cornhuskers Spring Event this year. Last year we had over 150 folks attend from both our chapter, as well as our brethren from Oregon. It was a truly fun night of camaraderie, good food, great auction items, and a colorful and candid guest speaker in the form of one Tommie Frazier. This year’s event is shaping up to be even bigger and better. Here are all the details!

Event Date – Saturday, April 9th, 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Event Location – Emerald Queen Casino - EQC Fife Hotel/Casino. http://www.emeraldqueen.com/pages/directions.php
Admission - $35/person for adults, all children 18 and under are free of charge. Yes, children are absolutely allowed at this event as the ballroom is adjacent to the casino, not a part of it. Children under 18 will require an adult escort to the rest rooms as they are in the main casino, but that is the only restriction!
Rooms – There is a limited number of rooms at the EQC available for our event attendees for $89/night. For real-time booking, call the Emerald Queen Hotel & Casino 24-Hour Reservation Line: (253) 922-2000

Event Details:
Guest Speaker – Matt Davison
This year’s Spring Event is highlighted by our TREMENDOUS guest speaker – Matt Davison. As a split end for the Huskers in the late 1990’s, Matt finished his career ranked second all-time among Nebraska receivers, trailing only Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers. He earned honorable-mention honors from the league coaches in 1998, 1999 and 2000, and was a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree. Oh, yeah – and there was that catch….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn7j-zJrbPk

Now, Matt’s entered the world of sports broadcasting. He’s currently a part of the Husker Sports Network Football as a color analyst for football and co-host for Husker Game Day. He also is a color analyst for Nebraska men's basketball and the co-host of the Doc Sadler Show, while contributing to Sports Nightly.

Matt’s other passion is his charity – Creating Captains (http://creatingcaptains.org/). Creating Captains is designed to empower student athletes to live a life of character... both on and off the playing field. By engaging youth with positive messages early in their athletic careers, CREATING CAPTAINS instills values and teaches lessons that last a lifetime.

Buffet Dinner – There will be a grand buffet provided for all attendees. Salmon, beef, pasta, sides, and dessert! No one will leave hungry! There will also be a cash bar available for all attendees.

Silent Auction – this event has always had an AMAZING assortment of items on a silent auction. All proceeds go to helping provide the services we do to our Washington Cornhusker chapter, including funding our local area radio broadcasts as well as our Washington Cornhuskers Scholarships. For more info on these, please see the tabs above! Auction items last year included autographed Tommie Frazier pictures, stays at local resorts including Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal, etc. This year’s auction is shaping up even better with autographed jerseys, autographed footballs, and even more gifts with local flavor and charm!
