Team Jack meets with President Obama

Team Jack got a chance to meet with President Obama today at the White House to talk about pediatric brain cancer and of course he took the opportunity to show off his favorite Husker jersey.

Randy York has details on their visit, which Jack's dad Andy said went "awesome," on his NSider Blog.

Thank You for Attending the 2013 Washington Cornhuskers Alumni Spring Event

WA Huskers,

For those who could attend our event, thank you so much for coming.  Also, thanks to the various businesses and individuals who contributed items for our silent auction.  Special thanks to Andy Greer from NAA, Dr. Bill Velander and Coach John Cook for joining us.  We had approximately 75 guests in attendance.

Our silent auction raised $2,952.  Half of that money will be used to fund scholarships.  The other half will go towards paying for the event.  Our football ticket raffle brought in $430.  (Thanks Duke)  Those funds will go towards our radio program.

Congratulations to our two 2012 Volunteers of the Year, Jennifer Redding and David Knaup.  Well deserved.

Our next Chapter function is scheduled for Saturday morning, March 9th at the Double Tree Hotel in Burien.  We will gather for a breakfast social.  Look for more details on that event on our Facebook page.

GO BIG RED,

Jim Burkhardt
President
Washington Cornhuskers

Success at the Ronald McDonald House -- February 20, 2013

Again, there was overwhelming support from the Washington Cornhuskers to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, serving approximately 100 people.
We cooked dinner for children undergoing treatment at Seattle Children's Hospital and their family.  Thank you to Dave Knaup for volunteering his culinary expertise to provide a well-balanced and high quality meal.  And thank you to the 15 volunteers who helped prepare and serve the food to the families.
Please check out the Washington Cornhusker Facebook page for pictures.

If you are interested in other volunteer opportunities, please email info@wacornhuskers.com.
